Special thanks to Earl and Ben for not murdering me and hiding my body in a cranberry bog.
The wings were great, the roads were fun, and I even managed to make a stop at the Princeton Record Exchange, because I still occasionally pay for music. Speaking of which, here’s some new Mike Krol:

Princeton record exchange is my favorite place to go for records. The shop owners and their empl oyees rock .

My name is Dan.

No problem. There is talk of a future meetup in Asbury Park so hopefully you can make that one. And maybe we'll run into each other around Allentown (or maybe we already have?)

I like it a lot, although the way they have their CDs arranged is a bit haphazard. It takes me a while to find things and a lot of things were not really in alphabetical order. But I'm willing to put up with that.

so, um, did you stop at Wawa? :p
![]() 03/16/2019 at 21:07 |

Yes, but there are infinite Wawas in my part of PA so that's not really an event for me.

That’s fair. Ask the crew if you ever can’t find anything , they have minds like an elephant ha. Where did you get wings? My favorite place to get wings will probably be closed due to avoiding payroll fees (Chicken or the Egg).

Sadly they were sold out of one of the albums I went in there to buy (Better Oblivion Community Center), but I agree that the staff is generally pretty helpful.
We got wings at the Pic-A-Lilli Inn on 206.

Their knockoff shamrock shake is supposedly
better than real one

Hmmm, I'm going to need to investigate this...

Nice!
Special thanks to Earl and Ben for not murdering me and hiding my body in a cranberry bog.
How do we know one of them hasn’t assumed your identity?

Hey, if somebody wants to take over my debt, have at it.

Hell yea, it was a good time in the Barrens. Thanks for making the hike!

It was worth the drive. I enjoyed trying to keep up with the Z06. That traffic circle put a smile on my face.

If it was gonna be one of us it’d be me, and I can safely say I didn’t do that...

That was a lot of fun! You guys were awesome! I always like meeting oppos IRL. Never had a bad experience.
I got this group pic right before I left. Not the best one ever, but I’m not gonna sit here and pretend I’m a competent photog to begin with.

Hey, I’m just glad somebody took a picture because I completely forgot. Although this picture makes it look like most Oppos drive pickup trucks.
It was nice meeting you, and I'm looking forward to the Oppo Asbury Park meetup.

Traffic circles are so underrated

Wow I didn’t realize how many pickups were in that shot. What is this, Texas?!

Also I'm going to start looking at C5 Z06 listings. I know that there are newer and faster Vettes, but the C5 is the best looking IMO, and that Z sounded nice today.

I'm still not entirely convinced that the Pine Barrens are a part of NJ. It's like you drive down 206 and through a portal into Camo Country.

Yeah I passed a road on my way out, street sign and everything: Hog Farm Road. Like...????
![]() 03/16/2019 at 22:42 |

We passed at least two gun clubs and one house with a c onfederate flag in the Barrens.

Thanks for taking a pic and driving down!

My only regret is that I couldn’t make the drive. How scenic is it? I might do it on one of my days off this week with my GF

Haha , y ou had the best soundtrack. I’ll have to bring a GoPro for the next meetup, and maybe we’ll do a C5Z/Miata swap.

Swap cars?!
![]() 03/16/2019 at 23:02 |

It was surprisingly good having guessed most of it . Will be more scenic once everything grows in but it was a good mix of twisty roads, sweeping turns, and long stretches. Pass by Batsto Vi llage, farms, and bogs with almost zero traffic.

The Chegg rocks, but way different than the Pic.

Sounds awesome, but the only thing I think of when it comes to Pine Barrens is this episode of The Sopranos (which is, arguably, the best episode of the series) :

Understandable, which is why I made sure that the snow was melted before picking a weekend to do this.

I’ll have to check it out. I love running through 539 down through PB to LBI.
I’ve been down a bit more these past few years arguing the pipeline through it. Thankfully it has finally been blocked. Loved it down there. Glad you had a great trip brotha.

One important note: most wing places I frequent count "1 wing" as either 1 drumstick or 1 flat, so if you order 12 wings you'd expect 6 drums and 6 flats. At the Pic-A-Lilli Inn, "1 wing" is the whole wing, drum and flat. So an order of 12 wings gets you 12 drums and 12 flats. Order accordingly.

Also, I just remembered that on the way home I was passed by one of these nifty looking 3 wheelers:

Admittedly , the sum total of my New Jersey experience was a couple of hour layover in the Newark Airport on the way back from Ireland (United 757 flight from Dublin ) as a kid in 1998.

Sounds like heaven. So generous.

They do charge for celery and blue cheese, but the wing prices are reasonable.
![]() 03/17/2019 at 00:35 |

Works out for me... I need neither of those haha. Only side I need with wings is beer.

I live maybe 20 minutes from Jersey, and I have family that used to live there so I've visited it plenty. There's a lot more to New Jersey than just Newark. The Pine Barrens emphasized that for me today. It felt like I was back in rural eastern NC, just with blueberry farms and cranberry bogs instead of cotton and tobacco.
